Harihari
In 1931 Hari Hari on the West Coast became the landing site of the first solo Trans-Tasman flight. Australian Guy Menzies set off without the knowledge of his parents from Sydney in a biplane and they only found out when they received the message that Guy had survived the crash landing in the La Fontaine swamp on the West Coast of New Zealand. Be sure to view the replica biplane situated on the main road. more
Grab a shovel to create your own pool in the natural hot springs on the side of the Wanganui River. You will be surrounded by native forest hills, rivers and lakes.
Harihari is offers activities for anyone with a desire to get away from it all or a sense of adventure. The area is popular for bush walking, bird watching, photography and trout or salmon fishing.
