Lyttelton Nature and Eco Tourism
Lyttelton is the South Island's principle deep water port and is located 12 from Christchurch by a tunnel under the Port Hills. Lyttelton was badly damaged by the 2011 Christchurch Earthquakes and many of its historical buildings were destroyed. Lyttelton remains a beautiful port town with stunning views of the Lyttelton Harbour and the surrounding hills. Lyttelton Harbour itself as well as the surrounding Port Hills and Banks Peninsula were formed by ancient volcanoes.
