Abel Tasman National Park is the smallest national park in the country. It's world famous for its coastal walking track and has many golden sandy beaches. Established in 1942 it is 22,530 hectares in size and the nearest towns are Takaka, Motueka and Kaiteriteri. Tui, bellbirds and pukeko can be seen in this area.

Kahurangi National Park is NZs second largest park and home to the famous Heaphy Track which attracts over 4,000 walkers every year.
