Christchurch East Heritage and History
Christchurch East compromises the eastern suburbs of Christchurch as well as Christchurch’s beachfront. Christchurch East was hit particularly hard by the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes and some suburbs were demolished and returned to parkland. Christchurch East boasts many beautiful suburbs including the seaside suburb of Brighton.

Ferrymead Heritage Park features an early 1900s (Edwardian) township, with exhibits such as houses, picture theatre, school classroom, church, jail, railway station, trains, lodge hall, post office, printers, tobacconist, general store, lawyer’s office and more. Located near the Port Hills. Combine a visit with a gondola ride to the summit, visit the port of Lyttelton, Heathcote Valley, Redcliffs and Sumner.
