The Natural Attractions of Catlins Coastal Heritage Trail
The Catlins Coastal Heritage Trail is a series of walks and places of interest linked by easy drives in the Southland region of New Zealand.
The Catlins Coastal Heritage Trail takes approximately five hours if you follow the whole trail and include all the walks.
The Catlins Coastal Heritage Trail is accessed from either Niagara, four kilometres from Waikawa and 189 kilometres from Dunedin, or from the Fortrose Cemetery, 50 kilometres from Invercargill. The trail can be travelled in either direction.
Highlights include isolated beaches, waterfalls, rugged coastline, historical buildings and cemeteries, a fossil forest, a bay frequented by Hector's dolphins, a lighthouse and a museum.
